Upcoming Vacancies for Councillors

Warmington and Arlescote Parish Council are aware that a vacancy will be coming up on the council over the next few months and are seeking expressions of interest from anyone who lives in Warmington or Arlescote who may be interested in joining the parish council. This is an interesting voluntary role where you will deal with various issues and make a difference to those who live in the village.

As a councillor you must be able to:

i) Attend Parish Council meetings (Around 6-8 meetings per year usually held on the second Wednesday of every other month starting in Jan plus an Annual Parish Meeting in April)

ii) Be prepared to spend around an hour or two each week to read and respond to Parish Council e-mails

Criteria for standing to be a Parish Councillor:

To be able to stand as a candidate at a parish council election you must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • be a British citizen, an eligible Commonwealth citizen, a citizen of the Republic of Ireland, a qualifying EU citizen or an EU citizen with retained rights

AND

Candidates must fit at least one of the following criteria –

  • Be on the Electoral Register (i.e. registered to vote) for Warmington and Arlescote Parish
  • Have occupied (as owner or tenant) any land or other premises in the Warmington and Arlescote parish/community area over the last 12 months
  • Lived within 3 miles of the parish over the last 12 months
  • Have your principal place of work in the parish for at least the last 12 months
