COVID-19

To all fellow parishioners

The COVID-19 virus outbreak is causing us all to assess our activities and to take some difficult decisions. As a Parish Council we have been looking at the actions we need to take to minimise the risk to residents and have been following advice from government. We have decided therefore to take the following actions:-

The Annual Parish Meeting, which was scheduled for 29th April, will be postponed until September 30th. We will review the situation nearer the time to see whether a further postponement is necessary. The Guest speaker for this year’s meeting was to be Inspector Allison Wiggin to talk about Rural Crime. I hope she will be able to come to the re-scheduled meeting.

The Annual Meeting of the Parish Council, which was scheduled for 15th May, will also be postponed, possibly until September 30th although changes to voting rules might enable us to hold this by telephone conference at an earlier date.

Regular Parish Council meetings, which normally take place in the village hall, will be suspended until further notice. The Parish Council will instead have regular telephone conference meetings and email communication during this period; including on the dates already published for meetings. It is understood that the government is passing enabling legislation to allow councillors to vote on line. Minutes will be published as usual and residents may continue to raise any matters of concern by contacting myself or our clerk Kirsty Buttle; our contact details are shown below. You can of course raise matters by contacting any other member of the Parish Council. We are looking at ways in which we might be able to set up video conferencing for such meetings and perhaps provide on-line access. If so, details will be provided to you.

I am delighted that support groups have been set up in both Warmington and Arlescote. The Parish Council will do what it can to help through this difficult period, so please do not hesitate to contact any of us if you have any concerns.

My best regards to all and I hope you manage to stay virus free.
